new solar powered water pump

2 new solar powered water pumpI found this 12V DC water pump at the Tractor Supply store near where I live. Hooked it up to a 12V 7ah battery that was charged by my 6.5 watt solar cell and was able to pump water. This system seems to work really well.

The whole system was around $200, if I shopped around I could have done it cheaper. I was experimenting and not paying attention to cost. It’s a nice system though, and completely portable, I can use it to pump from any rain barrel in my yard. Where I bought the pump both the ac and dc were the same price, $79.

How much did this whole system cost you? I have irrigation once a week and am interested in doing something similar, but with an a/c water pump. Thanks! Great vid!

It’s too hot here in texas to do that, the water would evaporate as soon as it hit my roof. BTW you can’t just connect a panel to the pump, they just don’t generate enough amps to power the pump.

I have a closed rain collection system on my house. I’ve been running the sprinkler on the roof just to cool the house off.

I want to do that setup to cool my roof off on hot days, just recirculating the barrel (tank) water.

Also, like your doing, only connect the panel directly to the pump, bypassing battery, inverter, & charge controller.

A cheap way to cool the house off.

do you have a charge controller on that at all?

    how the tomatoes doin?
    those are earthboxes yes?

  6. even with the price drop, solar cells are still quite expensive if you want to get more than 500 Watts ~

Cool! That’s a clever way of looking at it!
