Finding 12v Water Pump Supplies
If you’ve already decided you need a 12v water pump or maybe several for your low voltage plumbing project you might be wondering where is the best place to get one. Unfortunately there is no single correct answer because of the considerable effect that location has on availability. You might live near an electrical wholesalers for example, but after making enquiries they just don’t have the elusive 12v water pump that you need. Or maybe they don’t have any at all. That’s because these little pumps are really used a great deal in mainstream plumbing and building jobs. A better bet probably is to visit a motor home, caravan or boat supplies yard if you are lucky enough to have one within a reasonable distance. Or you could try to find one second hand or order one online from one of the big mail order and delivery websites, whether general goods suppliers or parts specialists.
To find a second hand 12v water pump you’d probably need to find a scrap vehicle that uses water, again such as a camper van or houseboat. The water pump that’s used for cooling engines is no good because that’s mechanically driven and the pump that powers a domestic washing machine is probably AC I think. If anybody has any suggestions for sourcing water pumps that run of a 12 volt supply I’d be very grateful if you’d leave comments which I will collect and republish for the benefit of all my readers.
